How does the proxy tester work?

Our tester routes a small request through your proxy to a known endpoint that echoes the connecting IP. We measure the round-trip time (ping), capture the exit IP, look up its country, city, and ISP, and report whether the proxy is alive or not. The whole process takes 1–10 seconds per proxy.

What proxy protocols are supported?

HTTP, HTTPS (HTTP CONNECT tunnel), SOCKS4, and SOCKS5 — all four major protocols. Both authenticated (user:pass) and unauthenticated proxies are supported.

Is the proxy tester free?

Yes, completely free. No sign-up required, no rate limits for normal interactive use, no install. You can test single proxies or paste a bulk list of hundreds at once.

Will my proxies and credentials be stored?

No. We never store the proxy host, port, or credentials you submit. Each test runs server-side, makes a single outbound request, and discards everything as soon as the response returns. Nothing is logged, nothing persists.

Can I test proxies in bulk?

Yes. Switch to Bulk Import mode and paste any number of proxies in formats like host:port, host:port:user:pass, user:pass@host:port, or full proxy URLs (http://, https://, socks4://, socks5://). Each line is tested in parallel batches of 10.

What does the ping value mean?

Ping is the total round-trip time it took for our server to send a request through your proxy and receive the response. Lower is better. Under 100 ms is excellent (datacenter or premium ISP); 100–300 ms is typical for residential proxies; over 1000 ms suggests an overloaded or distant proxy.

What does 'Connection timeout' mean?

Connection timeout means our server couldn't establish a TCP connection to your proxy within 10 seconds. Common causes: the proxy host is offline, the port is wrong, a firewall is blocking outbound traffic to our IP, or the proxy is severely overloaded. Try a different protocol — sometimes HTTP and SOCKS5 are exposed on different ports.

What does 'Authentication failed' mean?

Authentication failed means the proxy responded but rejected the username/password you provided. Check for typos, leading/trailing whitespace, or special characters that might need URL encoding. If your proxy uses IP authentication instead of credentials, leave the user/pass fields empty.

Why is the exit IP different from my proxy host?

That's normal — the host is just the entry point. Most providers route traffic through a pool, so the exit IP visible to target sites differs from the proxy host you connect to. The exit IP is what websites and anti-bot vendors see; that's the one that matters.

Can I test residential, datacenter, and ISP proxies?

Yes — the tester is protocol-level, so it works on every type: rotating residential, static residential ISP, datacenter, mobile, and SOCKS5 backconnect pools. The country and ISP fields will tell you what kind of proxy you actually have based on the exit IP.
